Candle Care & Rituals
Maximize the life and beauty of your pure beeswax candles.

The Essentials

  • Trim the Wick: Before every light, trim the wick to 1/4 inch. This prevents smoking and ensures a steady, calm flame.

  • Extinguish with Care: Instead of blowing out your candle, dip the wick into the liquid wax pool using a tool. This eliminates smoke and primes the wick for its next use. Straighten it immediately.

  • Embrace the Bloom: A soft, white "bloom" on the surface is a mark of 100% pure beeswax. If you prefer a polished look, simply buff it away with a lint-free cloth.

  • Safe Spacing: Keep candles at least 3–4 inches apart. If they are too close, the collective heat can cause neighboring candles to melt or warp.

The Pillar Masterclass: Preventing Blow-outs

Beeswax pillars are "living" sculptures. Use these three steps to ensure a perfect 50+ hour burn without leaks.

1. The "Memory Burn" (First Light)

The first time you light your pillar let the candle burn until the liquid wax pool reaches nearly the outer edges(3-4 hours for a 3 Inch wide candle). This sets the "memory" of the wax, ensuring that for all future burns, the candle utilizes the full diameter and doesn't tunnel down the center.

2. The "Hug" Technique

As your pillar burns, a "cup" will naturally form. To prevent tunneling, use your thumbs to gently press the warm, pliable top edges inward toward the center. This feeds the outer wax into the flame, maximizing your burn time and keeping the candle shape beautiful.

3. Reinforce the Rim

To prevent a "blow-out" (where liquid wax breaks through the side), always ensure the outer rim remains sturdy. If you notice a thin spot, "hug" the wax more firmly in that area while warm to reinforce the wall. Never let the liquid wax pool reach the very edge of the pillar.

4. The "Mid-Life" Reset

To get full burn time, your candle needs a rest.

  • The Method: After your candle has reached approximately its halfway point (around 25 hours of total burn time of 50 Hours), let it cool and harden completely.

  • Why: This "resets" the structural integrity of the wax. Relighting it after a full cool-down allows the candle to burn through the remaining bottom half with much higher stability and zero leaks.

Why Beeswax?

  • Pure Air: Beeswax naturally cleans the air as it burns, releasing negative ions.

  • Versatility: Beyond light, beeswax is a household staple. Use it to lubricate squeaky drawers, protect garden tools from rust, or as a base for natural body balms.

  • Safety First: Always burn on a fire-safe surface and never leave a flame unattended.
